IR touch screen Operating principle / How it works:

The Infrared touchs creen technology uses infrared emitter-collector pairs to project an invisible grid of light a small distance over the surface of the screen.

The frame is integrated with a printed circuit board which contains an array of X-Y IR LED and Photo detector around the edges. The beams of LED cross each other horizontally and vertically and this helps the sensor to find the exact position on the screen.

When touch is applied to the screen surface, the X & Y IR light beams are interrupted.

The Photo transistors from the X & Y axes detects the IR light beams which have been interrupted and transmits a signal identifying the relevant X & Y axes coordinates to the Host device.
